2022 Summer 新住民電腦受贈關懷計畫The Computer Donation and Care Program for New Immigrants

台灣是一個多元化的文化社會，主要包含閩南人、客家人、外省人、原住民、新住民等五大族群。不過當主要人口對少數族群不了解時，很容易會有不友善的言語及態度產生，這是因為人們對陌生的事物常抱有懷疑的心態，進而產生不信任感，許多刻板印象也因此被套用在不同族群的人身上。

Taiwan is a culturally diversified society, comprised primarily of 5 major groups: Minnan people, Hakka people, Mainlanders, Indigenous people, and New Immigrants. But when a major population group lacks understanding of certain minority groups, we start to see less-than-friendly languages and attitudes. It’s just that people often suspect unfamiliar things. This leads to feelings of mistrust, and many stereotypes end up being applied to people from different groups.

我們的家庭組成也是新住民型態的家庭，我們的媽媽來自中國上海，十分了解新移民在一個陌生環境生活是多麼辛苦，因此在我們行有餘力之時，也想關懷同樣屬於新移民的家庭。我們熟知不要將新住民標籤化，勿貼上弱勢和需要被幫助的標籤，這也是社會很需要學習的環節。

Our family makeup is much like that of a New Immigrant family. Our mother comes from Shanghai and feels deeply about the difficulties immigrants face in unfamiliar surroundings. As such, we also try to care for new immigrant families with whatever we can spare. We have long known not to stereotype new immigrants, and not to label them as weak or needy. These are also things that society is in much need of learning.

因此為了協助真正需要關懷的對象，我們與新竹縣新住民家庭服務中心以及新竹市新住民家庭服務中心合作，讓他們媒合到合適的家庭。

To help those truly in need, we are working with the Hsinchu County New Immigrant Service Center (hcwfamily.org.tw) and Hsinchu Service Center for New Immigrant Families (hsfs.org.tw) to pair them with suitable families.

此次的活動我們利用我們所學，從我們喜愛的事情開始執行，我們選擇親自動手組裝電腦，不僅能讓我們對自身所學有進步的空間，也同時能幫助到他人，藉由此機會，讓我們有機會幫助不一樣的族群，了解不一樣的文化，同時也讓我們發揮所長，學習如何組裝電腦。

For this program, we decided to make use of what we learned and begin with what we like most: we started to do computer assembly. This not only allowed us to improve on what we learned previously but also help others simultaneously. Through this opportunity, we have a chance to help a different kind of group, to understand a different type of culture, and at the same time put our knowledge to use and learn how to assemble computers.

這兩年新冠疫情肆虐，許多公司以及學校開始執行遠端上班和遠端上課，也讓許多較困難的新移民家庭雪上加霜，本就辛苦的生活並沒有多餘的金費可以購買電腦去工作和學習，因此我們希望能透過此次活動，捐贈電腦兩台給需要幫助的家庭，讓被幫助的家庭在疫情期間也能維持正常的生活。

Over the past two years of pandemic devastation, many schools and companies started implementing remote-working and remote-learning, putting many financially limited new immigrant families into further difficulty. With life already under stress, they don’t have money to spare to purchase a computer for school and work. Through this program, we hope to donate 2 computers to families in need and help them live life normally through the pandemic period.
