2024 July「愛心志工行：南迴醫院的溫暖旅程」"Heartfelt Volunteer Journey: The Warm Experience at Nanhui Hospital"

今年7/17-7/19共三天的南迴醫院志工活動,有6位學生與他們家長們代表新竹愛心小隊，來到南迴地區跟著基金會同仁參與服務工作。This July 17th to 19th , six students and their parents, representing the Hsinchu Love Action, participated in a three-day volunteer activity at Nanhui Hospital, working alongside the foundation staff in the Nanhui area.

第二天早上他們先跟著社工姐姐到案家送物資，下午回到南迴診所Share Love廣場協助活動前的場佈。活動當天早上，學生志工跟著同仁一起迎接vuvu們，協助老師發放花環材料，專心地跟著教學步驟完成自己的頭花，也帶著花環一起參與鄰近的大鳥部落祭典現場。On the second morning, they first accompanied the social worker to deliver supplies to families. In the afternoon, they returned to the Nanhui Clinic's Share Love Plaza to assist with the event setup. On the day of the event, the student volunteers joined the staff in welcoming the vuvu attendees, helped the teachers distribute flower crown materials, and diligently followed the instructional steps to create their own headpieces. They also wore their flower crowns while participating in the nearby Dapeng Village festival.

在「南迴醫院的溫暖旅程」活動中，醫護人員與學生們共同參與了居家醫療訪問。他們開車前往病患家中，不僅提供專業的醫療服務，還貼心地送上糧食，為老年病患帶來身心的關懷。參與的學生們也自發捐款，每人捐出了6000元，用於購買糧食，表達對這些長者的支持與愛心。這場溫暖的旅程，讓醫療與關懷走進了病患的生活，體現了人與人之間的深厚情誼。During the "Warm Journey of Nanhui Hospital" event, healthcare professionals and students participated in home medical visits. They drove to patients' homes, providing not only professional medical care but also delivering food supplies, offering both physical and emotional support to elderly patients. Each participating student also generously donated 6,000 NTD to purchase food for these seniors, showing their care and compassion. This warm journey brought medical services and kindness into the lives of patients, reflecting the deep bonds of humanity.

歷經腦出血又罹鼻咽癌，化療後，仍繼續出診當「超人醫師」！徐超斌從沒忘記，守護鄉親的責任After Brain Hemorrhage and Nasopharyngeal Cancer, He Still Makes House Calls—"Super Doctor" Hsu Chao-Bin Never Forgets His Duty to His People

「超人醫師」徐超斌頂著一頭醒目的亂髮——看似不修邊幅，其實是他刻意維持的「帥氣」。歲月染白的髮絲微微發亮。他黝黑的臉上帶著幾分疲憊，溫和的眼神混雜了滄桑。"Super Doctor" Hsu Chao-Bin sports a head of wild hair—seemingly unkempt, but intentionally styled for flair. His graying hair shimmers softly with age. On his tanned face are traces of fatigue and kind, weathered eyes.

他現在是台東南迴診所的院長、專職醫師。這天，星期三，下午是他從事居家醫療的時段。每個星期，他會做兩次出診，另一次是星期五。He is now the director and full-time physician at the South Link Clinic in Taitung. On this Wednesday afternoon, he sets out for home medical visits—a routine he follows twice a week, the other time being Friday.

下午一點出發，同行的護理師已準備就緒。他們將出診時會使用的醫療器材——血壓計、耳溫槍，以及裝著棉花棒、膠帶、針管、各種藥品的醫藥箱，帶上行動醫療車。全員坐定後，車子開始在南迴公路上奔馳。At 1 PM, he departs. The accompanying nurse is ready, and they load essential equipment—blood pressure monitor, ear thermometer, and a medicine kit stocked with cotton swabs, tape, syringes, and medications—into the mobile clinic van. Once everyone is seated, the vehicle speeds along the South Link Highway.

這天下午，徐超斌預計會看十二名新舊個案。他們分布在安朔、大武、尚武、土坂、愛國蒲等地，有原住民部落，也有混合式社區。個案以老人家為主，慢性病纏身，或是推著助行器，或是坐輪椅，甚至是臥床。他們平日足不出戶，從家裡到醫院的那條路，很遙遠。That afternoon, Hsu Chao-Bin expects to visit twelve patients, new and old, in areas like Anshuo, Dawu, Shangwu, Tushang, and Aiguopu. The patients, mostly elderly and chronically ill, live in indigenous and mixed communities. Some use walkers or wheelchairs, and many are bedridden. For them, the road from home to the hospital is long and difficult.

前兩位都是老病人。名單上的第三位個案，是位不愛出門的阿嬤。在媳婦和看護的陪伴下，阿嬤推著助行器，顫顫巍巍，從臥房來到了客廳。面對陌生的面孔，她顯得有點困惑，還是笑咪咪的打招呼：「你好。」The first two are regular patients. The third is an elderly woman who rarely leaves home. With her daughter-in-law and a caregiver's help, she shakily pushes a walker from her bedroom to the living room. Though confused by the unfamiliar faces, she smiles and greets, “Hello.”

「阿嬤，徐醫師來家裡幫妳看病啦！」 媳婦在阿嬤耳邊解釋。阿嬤最近腳有點水腫，因此家人申請了居家醫療。“Grandma, Dr. Hsu came to see you at home!” the daughter-in-law explains softly. Grandma has had some swelling in her legs recently, so the family requested home care.

徐超斌在視診時，注意到阿嬤有氣喘聲，便為她做了聽診。他請家人帶阿嬤到當地的衛生所做胸部光檢查，進一步瞭解阿嬤的心肺狀況。During the check-up, Hsu notices wheezing and listens to her chest. He advises the family to take her to the local clinic for a chest X-ray to assess her heart and lung condition.

當徐超斌在寫病歷、開藥時，媳婦看著送回房間的阿嬤，透露個案不樂意出門的原因：「我公公生前比較大男人主義，不喜歡我婆婆拋頭露面，時間久了，她也習慣不出門，整天待在家裡。」While Hsu writes notes and prescribes medicine, the daughter-in-law shares the reason behind her mother-in-law’s reluctance to go out: “My father-in-law was very traditional. He didn’t like her appearing in public. Over time, she got used to staying inside all day.”

她還說，阿嬤有潔癖，尤其不願用公共廁所。每次只要帶阿嬤出門，阿嬤就喊著要回家上廁所，更增加到醫院看診的難度。She adds that Grandma is particular about cleanliness, especially avoiding public restrooms. Every time they try to take her out, she insists on returning home to use the bathroom—making hospital visits even harder.

居家醫療，不只是去病人的家中看「病」，也走入對方的生活中，真正看見「病人」，才能提供最適切的醫療照護。Home healthcare isn't just about treating the "illness"—it's about entering patients' lives, truly seeing them, and providing the care they really need.

多年來，徐超斌便是這樣一步一腳印，守護著在地鄉親的健康。他把療癒的光，照進偏鄉的角落。For years, Hsu Chao-Bin has cared for his community one step at a time, bringing the light of healing to the remotest corners.

解決偏鄉醫療的困境Tackling the Challenges of Rural Healthcare

看完最後一位在愛國蒲部落的個案，已經是下午四點半。徐超斌回到車上，巨大的疲憊感一湧而上。卸下醫師身分的他，是一名病人。After the last visit in Aiguopu village, it's 4:30 PM. Back in the car, exhaustion floods over him. Beneath the white coat, he is a patient himself.

二〇〇六年，徐超斌三十九歲，是台東達仁鄉衛生所醫師兼主任，在一次數日超時工作、沒有休息的執勤任務後，發生腦出血，左手、左腳從此行動不便。In 2006, at 39, while working long hours without rest at the Daren Township Health Center, he suffered a brain hemorrhage. His left hand and foot have been impaired ever since.

二〇一九年的年底，徐超斌被診斷出罹患鼻咽癌，從此在治療與復發之間擺盪。這天上午，他才到台東馬偕醫院進行化療。In late 2019, he was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer and has since been battling through treatments and recurrences. That very morning, he received chemotherapy at Taitung Mackay Hospital.

作為一名癌症患者，下午他應該好好休息。然而，徐超斌仍持續他每週例行的出診。As a cancer patient, he should be resting in the afternoon. Instead, he continues his regular home visits.

徐超斌停不下來。他知道，他的病人在等他。Hsu can’t stop—he knows his patients are waiting.

他是台東土坂部落排灣族人。在臺北醫學大學（原臺北醫學院）求學時，便立志未來要回到家鄉服務。A Paiwan from Taitung’s Tushang village, he vowed while studying at Taipei Medical University to one day return and serve his hometown.

畢業後，經歷了台南奇美醫院的洗禮，他履行了對自己的承諾，成為達仁鄉衛生所的醫師，站在第一線上為鄉親服務。After graduating and training at Chi Mei Hospital in Tainan, he fulfilled his promise by returning to Daren Township as a front-line doctor for his community.

他深刻體認偏鄉醫療資源匱乏，增開了夜間門診、假日門診，並親自開車做巡迴醫療，一個月曾工作四百小時，「超人醫師」的名號不脛而走。Understanding the lack of resources in rural areas, he added night and weekend clinics, and personally drove for outreach. He once clocked 400 work hours a month, earning the title "Super Doctor."

中風之後，即使行動不便，徐超斌依然堅守醫師崗位。他的「超人」事蹟逐漸流傳開來，感動了許多人。Even after his stroke, he continued working with impaired mobility. His story inspired many across Taiwan.

為了支持他改變偏鄉醫療的困境，廣大民眾的小額捐款從四面八方湧來，促成他在二〇一二年成立了「南迴基金會籌備處」，最主要的任務，就是籌建南迴醫院。To support his mission, countless small donations poured in, enabling him to start the South Link Foundation in 2012, aimed at building a hospital in the region.

根據徐超斌的規劃，南迴醫院有二十張病床，並設有急診。從此，南迴偏鄉的病患不必為了到市區看病，飽受舟車勞頓之苦。His plan: a 20-bed hospital with an emergency room. Rural patients would no longer have to endure long, exhausting trips to the city for treatment.

十年過去了，南迴醫院仍不見蹤影。二〇一六年就購置的九百七十一坪預定地，荒草叢生，沒有任何動工的跡象。But ten years later, the hospital remains unbuilt. The 971-ping plot acquired in 2016 is now overgrown, with no sign of construction.

「徐醫師，南迴醫院什麼時候才會蓋好？」在地鄉親追問，不少捐款人也提出質疑，建院喊了這麼久，為何至今還是只聞樓梯響。“Dr. Hsu, when will the hospital be built?” Locals ask, and donors question the delays.

這不是容易回答的問題。在偏鄉蓋醫院，理想與現實的衝擊與拉扯，遠超過徐超斌的預期。It’s not an easy question. The clash between ideals and reality in rural hospital development has far exceeded his expectations.

南迴建院是他的初衷，但是他如今不得不考慮，在病患數、醫護人力都不足的前提下，南迴醫院能夠撐多久？蓋醫院是提升偏鄉醫療資源的唯一處方嗎？如果不能馬上蓋醫院，現階段是否有別的替代方案？Building the hospital was his dream. But now he must ask: with so few patients and medical staff, how long could it sustain? Is a hospital the only solution? Are there alternatives for now?

車窗外，海岸線隨著南迴公路緩緩展開。暮色中，灰暗的海浪來回拍打岸礁，像是他心頭反覆湧現的思緒。眼前要克服的困難還很多，但是徐超斌從來沒有忘記，自己身上背負著守護鄉親的責任。Outside the window, the coastline unfolds beside the highway. In the dusk, waves crash against the rocks like the thoughts that swirl in his mind. The road ahead is tough, but he has never forgotten his duty to his people.

他閉上雙眼，想像自己是飛行在南迴公路上的超人，隱形的披風在空中揚起……He closes his eyes, imagining himself soaring above the South Link Highway—an invisible cape billowing behind him…
