2022 Summer 舊鞋救命計畫 I

2022年，在撒哈拉以及南非洲，百萬人無鞋可穿。 In South Africa and the Sahara of 2022, millions are making do without shoes.

無鞋使沙蚤寄生皮膚，危害病人生命。因此我們為與Step 30合辦舊鞋救命活動。2022 暑假我們為舊鞋救命募集物資與資金，我們成立小型募集點。

Being shoeless exposes them to sand fleas, putting their lives in danger, so we teamed up with Step 30 and initiated an Old Shoes Save Lives program. We established a small donation station during our summer break in 2022, and we raised funds and resources

本次活動我們站在第一線為挑選可捐贈之物資，一開始我們以為只要是鞋子就可以捐贈，但實際上要考慮的問題有很多，鞋子要清潔、整理、搬運，其中整理是最花時間和最重要的環節。

For this program, we stood at the front lines to pick out goods eligible for donation. In the beginning, we expected everything to make the cut, so long as they were shoes. But in reality, there were many items of concern. Shoes had to be cleaned, sorted, and shipped. And among these, sorting was the most important and the most time-consuming.

1. 鞋子的包覆性要好，拖鞋以及涼鞋雖然看似清爽，很適合炎熱的天氣，卻無法完全阻斷沙蚤寄生。(Our shoes had to provide the proper coverage. Sandals and slippers may seem suitable for hot weather, but they are useless against sand fleas. )

2. 捐贈的包包也要考慮到實用性，能裝下A4尺寸的包包，才具有良好的實用性，因此太小的包包就不適合拿去捐贈。(Donated bags and packs must match practicality concerns. Only those able to carry A4-sized objects are actually of use, making really small bags unsuitable for donation.)

3. 衣物方面，太過於裸露、布料較少的衣物，並不符合非洲文化與風情，這也是在捐贈時仔細挑選的部分，當然過於厚重的衣物也不適合。(In terms of clothing, overly revealing clothes, those using less cloth, do not conform to African customs and culture. This was an important concern while accepting donations.Of course, overly thick and heavy clothing is not suitable either. )

本次活動中，我們學習到很多收穫，這跟以往將舊衣拿去資源回收很不同，這次我們更貼近受贈者的需求，並且體會到團隊合作的重要，我們團隊有人負責聯繫Step 30，有人負責宣傳活等等，良好的團隊分工和人際溝通使得活動順利完成，同時，也了解志工服務的不容易，雖然整理這些物資時有點辛苦，鞋子要清潔、整理、搬運。

We learned a lot through this program. It was very different from our previous experience of accepting old clothes for recycling. This time we stayed much closer to our recipients’ needs and felt much deeper about the importance of teamwork. Our team had people responsible for coordinating with Step 30, people responsible for marketing and publicity, and so forth. Good teamwork and communication made all the difference and led to our success. We also gained an appreciation for the hard work involved in volunteering.

活動成果：本次活動我們募捐多達122雙鞋子、20個包包以及53件衣服，勸募的金額也募資6500元新台幣。

Program results：We raised as many as 122 pairs of shoes, 22 bags, and 53 pieces of clothing. We also raised funds in the amount of $6500 NT.
