This year, in 2024, the Hisnchu Love Action collaborated with a group from the United States for a heartfelt volunteer event focused on rescuing lives through old shoes.

A total of 15 students participated, including one child who joined us with their mother. The children were assigned areas to assist at the site and all eagerly contributed.

After organizing everything, we placed the prepared old shoes into specially made collection bags and then delivered them to the Bethlehem warehouse. This process was not just a practical action but also a commitment to helping those in need. It was a moment of acting out of love, turning each pair of old shoes into a symbol of hope.

As the event concluded, we were deeply grateful to Emily, a volunteer with great compassion, who led us on a tour and shared her experiences from international volunteer activities in Africa. She explained how "jiggers," a disease common among children without shoes, can be life-threatening, as these tiny sand fleas erode their feet and hinder their dreams.

"Old Shoes. Save Lives." calls upon young people willing to make a difference in the world, encouraging practical actions through compassion and empathy. In addition to material donations, containers loaded with supplies are transformed into classrooms, clinics, churches, and community care centers. Wells are dug to provide clean water sources, and education on livestock and organic farming helps rural areas become self-sufficient.

This event was not just about reusing old items but also about caring for lives. We believe each pair of old shoes has its own unique story, stories that will continue to spread in the hands of their new owners.
